"We All Want To Change The World"

A new website named Change launched this morning. It was created to bring people and causes together.

One of the cool features lets you search for volunteer opportunities by zip code. It is under the Actions tab. However, when I entered mine (77581) and central Houston (77001)it is a bit sparse. As of this post there are three opportunities to save baby seals, wolves or stop the killing of whales. Not that those aren't worthy causes...but hopefully that will change soon. It is the first day, after all.

It definitely has potential.

Another website that helps you mobilize your online network for social change is Firstgiving.com. Firstgiving is a website that helps you create a free personalized fundraising page for any non-profit registered with GuideStar (nearly 2MM). The sites provides you with tools to promote your fundraising campaign including an email importer, a widget and a Firstgiving badge. The great part about this site it that it can be used with social network that you are already on (MySpace, Facebook, etc) to get your online network to support your mission.
