In The Wake

Last Friday night, there was an opening reception at Xnihilo Gallery for Beth Murray's, In The Wake. The exhibit continues thru October 15th.

The piece below was in New Orleans when Katrina hit. You can see the waterline across the top third.

Although growing up in rural Texas influenced my visual vocabulary immensely, having lived in a city whose attitude is far less negative towards age and decay, the idea of beauty being found in things otherwise understood to be broken, decrepit, or derelict has become even more paramount in my work.

Jessica, Jeremy and everyone else (I know Nate helped, too.) with Xnihilo did a fantastic job putting it all together.
